HKU Business School Alumni Gala Dinner
We had an incredible time at the HKU Business School's first-ever Alumni Gala Dinner last Saturday! Over 600 alumni and faculty members gathered for this momentous occasion, making it a night to remember. Special thanks to The Honourable Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government, for gracing us as the guest-of-honour and keynote speaker. We were also privileged to have numerous distinguished leaders from society join us.
During his keynote address, The Hon Paul Chan shared valuable insights on the Hong Kong economy and highlighted key initiatives in the 2024/25 Budget. He emphasised the importance of bolstering confidence in the immediate term and driving high-quality economic development through embracing green transition, digital economy, and the development of the "eight centres."
Prof. Richard Wong, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, also the Founding Dean of HKU Business School, expressed his gratitude to visionary leaders who laid the foundations of the university and nurtured a spirit of excellence and innovation. He highlighted how the dedication to academic excellence and commitment to nurturing business talent have propelled the school to the forefront of the global stage.
Prof. Hongbin Cai, Dean and Chair of Economics at HKU Business School, emphasised the school's unwavering commitment to excellence, resilience across generations, and the positive contributions of its alumni. He also shared exciting news about the development of the new home, Pokfield Campus, which will cover an impressive area of 157,000 sq.m. This new campus is expected to play a key role in helping HKU Business School become a world-leading institution, providing state-of-the-art facilities for teaching, research, and other academic activities.
The evening was filled with excitement, as alumni performances, an auction, and a lucky draw added to the festive atmosphere. It was heartwarming to see everyone reliving their cherished student memories. We were particularly thrilled to have Mr. Alex Fong, our own alumnus and the former holder of 11 Hong Kong swimming records, as our guest speaker, sharing his inspiring journey in sports competitions and entertainment.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this inaugural alumni gala. The HKU Business School spirit was on full display, and we can't wait for the next reunion!
