Our Postgraduate Class of 2026 was represented by Max Getuba Akunga, who opened with the story of a 12-year-old enslaved boy named Edmond Albius, who solved one of botany's greatest puzzles with his bare hands and pioneered the hand pollination method still used to produce vanilla today. "By trusting your unconventional journey, you can become someone who impacts the world." Max drew a line from Edmond's story to his own: a medical student turned storyteller turned investment analyst turned entrepreneur, who found his path at Hult. And then to every graduate in the room, each of them carrying a story that might sound unusual anywhere else, but makes complete sense as a Hultian. His key reflections for the Class of 2026: 1) Your unconventional journey is the point: every character has an intention, every journey has obstacles, and it's how you navigate them that shows your true character. 2) You are more than skilled graduates: this cohort has learned to form genuine connections across entirely different cultures and represent the best of themselves on a global stage. 3) Your voice matters: the perspective that comes from this unconventional experience, with these unconventional people, is exactly what every boardroom, government, and community needs to hear.
